STONE TOWN & PRISON ISLAND — A DIFFERENT SIDE OF ZANZIBAR

Description.

9:00am – approximately 4:00pm

A full day combining an unusual walking exploration of Stone Town with a private boat trip to Prison Island.

MORNING — STONE TOWN

Meet your private guide at 9:00am in Stone Town.

Forget the standard Stone Town tour. This is a chance to explore the old city through its hidden corners, stories, characters and everyday life.

Wander through narrow lanes and lesser-known streets, discover beautifully weathered doors and old buildings, visit places most visitors simply walk past and hear the stories behind Stone Town's fascinating mix of African, Arab, Indian and European influences.

Your guide will bring the history and character of the city to life while showing you some of the lesser-known sides of Stone Town.

LUNCH

Stop for a relaxed lunch at a local restaurant, giving you time to enjoy some of Zanzibar's flavours before continuing your day. Lunch included.

AFTERNOON — PRISON ISLAND

After lunch, head to the waterfront for your private boat transfer to Prison Island.

The short crossing gives you wonderful views back towards Stone Town and the Zanzibar coastline.

On the island, meet its most famous residents — the Aldabra giant tortoises. Get up close to these extraordinary creatures and learn about the island's history and the conservation work surrounding them.

A LITTLE MORE ADVENTURE

If you'd like to get into the water, snorkelling gear can be arranged (additional fee of US$10 per person), so you can explore the clear waters around Prison Island.

Or simply enjoy the island, the beach and the surrounding sea at your own pace.

Your private boat remains yours for the return journey, returning you back to Stone Town at approximately 4:00pm.
